The default setup has been customized slightly using OCT – Office Customization Tool
Office 2016 defaults to placing all shortcuts on the start menu WITHOUT a subdirectory – strewn all over it.
All shortcuts for the Office 2016 suites appear in the Microsoft Office 2016 subdirectory; all Office tools appear in the Office Tool subdirectory included in the setup customization file
You can select the default setup options for all programs and features, except for Skype for Business (Office 2016 ProPlus) and Office Telemetry (Office 2016 suites and applications) – you can certainly modify all setup options according to your needs.

Default setup will install Skype for Business regardless of whether the computer already has the client installed.
Installing Skype through Office setup will run through a Skype setup wizard that prompts you to set up Skype to launch whenever Windows starts, install Skype Click to Call, set Bing as your default search engine, and configure MSN as your homepage, after which it will ask you to log in.
Here is where things get confusing. Which account should I use? The computer will be configured to use two identities for your accounts – Skype for your personal account and Skype for Business for your work account – after selecting Skype Name and logging into the existing account (personal/home). You may not want to create a Live ID with your work email address if you select Microsoft Account.

Telemetry Dashboard displays information about a user’s Most Recently Used documents, including their file names and titles. These details could potentially reveal sensitive or personal information about the user. In addition, you can see the names of add-ins and other solutions that Office uses.
Telemetry agents collect inventory, usage, and other application data and upload them to a shared folder, where they are processed by a service called telemetry processors and inserted into an SQL database. This database is connected to the Telemetry Dashboard so that it can display information on Office files, add-ins, and solutions.

Compatibility with previous versions
With the 2016 release, Microsoft has removed support for running parallel versions of Office.
The installer will search for and remove any previous versions and not permit older components to function. Older versions of Outlook 2010 and 2013 with Publisher 2016 are examples.
To put it another way, do not mix Office versions.
Updating Microsoft Office 2016 Volume Edition
As opposed to Click2Run editions, Volume Editions cannot be updated via Account page (File -> Accounts -> Updates).
Microsoft Update must be enabled in Windows Update for Office 2016 VL updates.
Uninstall any previous versions using the provided uninstallers (bonus folder) and restart if necessary
Mount, burn, and extract ISO files
Install the Microsoft Office components
Use KMS Suite 8.7 (run as administrator) to activate
Enable / Restore Office 2016 Telemetry – merge registry file ‘Enable / Restore Office 2016 Telemetry’ (will take effect once your computer has been rebooted)
Merge reg file ‘Disable / Restore Sign In’ to disable or restore ‘Sign In’ in Office applications (takes effect after rebooting your computer)
The Classic Menu for Office plus the Office Tab can be installed (optional)
